What We’ll Do

We’ll start at 2.00 pm with a welcome and introduction.  We like to visit a range of different gardens, each as unique as the gardener who lives there.  It’s wonderful to see the diverse garden styles, approaches and plants that can be grown in our bio-region.  So this month … will show us this … garden at ….

What We’ll See

A few words from Matthew

Our house which we have named the 1/4 acre farm is exactly that. We are situated on the western side of Mount Lofty in a rental property and have been here since October 2018. This property is also used for our family daycare. There are many different evolving parts to our property including 8 raised garden beds, the beginning of our food forest, mushroom patches, chicken run, fruit trees, 4 different methods of composting and much more.

I wouldn’t call myself an experienced gardener although I been doing it for 14 years. I had my first vege patch in Spain and then Allora, another in Buderim and now I’m on my second patch in Toowoomba. So have worked up a bit of experience on different soils and climates. I have a very holistic view to the way I garden now. I believe in living harmoniously with the garden and not constantly fighting against it. You will see many herbaceous plants that were blown in by wind that I am very grateful for. We are big believers in sustainability and defending our environment. We make most things ourselves including Sourdough with our 10 year old starter, we preserve, dry and ferment amongst other thing. We live on a wholefoods plant based diet. We have 3 daughters who are a huge motivation for us to live the way we do. We are excited to share and learn, from and with, everyone who can make it to garden visit.
