Bookings are Essential

This is a COVID-safe event and we’re planning a maximum of 50 people with physical distancing guidelines. It’s essential that you book so that we have contact details and know how many will be attending.

What We’ll Do

1.30pm – Annual General Meeting

This meeting will be brief (30 minutes) and will include:

  • Presentation and Adoption of the Minutes of the last annual General Meeting held on 7 June 2020 as a true record.
  • Presentation and Adoption of the Financial Statements including Income and Expenditure and Balance Sheet for the last reportable financial year (1 January to 31 December 2020).
  • Presentation and Receiving the President’s Annual Report.
  • Election of Members of the Management Committee for 2021-2022 including President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Registrar, Events Coordinator, Events Communication, Events Host, Welcoming Officer and Newsletter Editor (10 members).
  • Confirmation that the association holds appropriate Insurance.
  • Set Membership Fees for 2022.
  • Any other item of General Business.

2.00pm – Practical Mini Workshops

Learn how to make a range of useful recipes for your garden and home including:

Recipes for Your Garden

  • Aerated Compost Tea
  • Effective Microorganisms (EM) Soil Bacteria (bring a jar or small bottle to take some home)
  • Comfrey Tea
  • Complete Organic Fertiliser (COF)
  • Soluble Calcium
  • Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB)

Recipes for Your Home

  • Sour Dough Bread
  • Kombucha (bring a jar if you’d like a SCOBY to take home)

Explore Debbie and Brodie’s Garden-Farm

See the kitchen garden, Asian-inspired food garden, orchard with integrated poultry (chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, peacock), quail cottage, nursery and potting area, outdoor sink, worm farm, native bee hives, frog hotel, and more.

If you’ve not been here before, this is a chance to look around. Or if you visited last summer, this is a chance to see the garden in a cooler season.

Afternoon Tea

We’ll share some freshly made vegetable soup and sour dough bread for afternoon tea (with gluten free and vegan options).

Parking

Please drive in and park with care near the house along the driveway.

Access and Directions

The garden is flat and suitable for wheel chairs, walking frames and strollers as needed. Everyone is welcome (including children with parent supervision).

The property is approximately 10 minutes drive from the top of the Toowoomba Range. Head east down the highway through Withcott and past the exit to Murphys Creek. Turn left into Connoles Road (the first road past the exit to Murphys Creek – you’ll see Dependable Sheds on the right of the highway), and then immediately right into Richards Road. Number 88 is the last property at the cul-de-sac at the end of Richards Road.

Cost

  • Financial Members of Permaculture Toowoomba Inc. – Free
  • First-time Visitors to a Permaculture Toowoomba Inc. Event – Free
  • Non-Members – $10 per person
  • Children attending with an Adult – Free (but please book so we know total numbers)

Membership

Annual Membership of Permaculture Toowoomba Inc. is now due for renewal for all members. It’s only $40 per person or $30 for a second or subsequent adult living in the same home.

If you renew or join now, membership will be valid right through until the end of 2021 and members can attend all events and workshops during the year at no cost.

Membership forms will be available at the event for anyone wishing to join, or available here for download at http://www.permaculturetoowoomba.com.au/membership/.

Share Table

Do you have surplus?

We encourage you to bring your surplus produce, plants, seeds, books, craft supplies and resources to share with others.

Some ideas of what you could bring include – fruit, vegetables, herbs, eggs, honey, milk, jams, pickles, preserves, jars, ferments, starters, SCOBYs, seeds, plants, seedlings, cuttings, tubers, pots, tools, gardening magazines, permaculture books, recipes, patterns, manure, coffee grounds, compost additives, worms, meal worms, wool, fabric, craft supplies, soap, natural cleaning products, plastic alternatives, produce bags – the list is extensive.

Please bring whatever you can and then take home whatever you need within our culture of generosity and free sharing.

COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic we’re taking careful steps to make sure everyone stays healthy and safe.  This includes:

  • Maximum of 50 people at this event.
  • Physical distancing will be maintained.
  • Please don’t attend if you or anyone in your household is unwell, self-isolating because they are at risk of becoming unwell with COVID-19, or you’ve recently travelled overseas or to hot spot area.

Please help us to manage the risks and keep everyone healthy and well.
