What We’ll Do

We’ll start at 2.00 pm with a welcome and introduction. We like to visit a range of different gardens, each as unique as the gardener who lives there. It’s wonderful to see the diverse garden styles, approaches and plants that can be grown in our bio-region.

So this month Shirley and John will show us their suburban garden in Toowoomba. It’s a natural garden brimming with food and habitat for wildlife, birds and humans.

Some Words from Shirley about her Garden

This is the house where we have lived for almost 40 years and where we raised our family of girls. In my early days of gardening I feel I didn’t really understand what I was doing (possibly still don’t) but always knew I love greenery, flowers, trees and just nature in general.

I feel my garden had evolved over the years to be more me. It is certainly not a structured garden and some may say messy but as a good friend said to me “nature is messy”.

My garden has developed into a site where I am delighted to say attracts so much nature it makes me feel proud and I feel I am doing my little bit for the insects, birds and whatever cares to visit or live.

I love native plants but it is not a fully native garden by any means. My vegetable garden also gives me tremendous joy and feeds us generously over the seasons.

I hope you enjoy.

Everyone is welcome but bookings are essential to ensure we don’t exceed 50 people attending and so we have your details if contact tracing is required.  Our aim is to keep everyone safe.
