Three years ago, Marina returned to Toowoomba with the intention of setting up her own catering business but COVID had other plans. Turns out lockdown wasn’t a good time to be starting a new business. Uncertain times found Marina back home with not a lot going on.
A friend said their boss could use a hand at the farm they worked at. Marina turned up and three years later she is still there. The life of an apiarist is exactly what she had been searching for. Hard physical work in the outdoors, a love affair with bees, truck driving to relocate the bees all over southeast Queensland.
Marina’s passion for bees is all-encompassing. She volunteers with the local and state agricultural societies, where she shares her love of bees, nature, and agriculture with young and old. Marina is proud to represent and promote the many possibilities for women in agriculture.
She is a regular stall holder at Toowoomba’s Farmer Markets which allows her to advocate for sustainable farming and community connection.
